The Department of Health Systems and Populations is seeking a part time (0.4FTE) Scholarly Teaching Fellow to assist with the development and ongoing teaching of programs. The work activity of this position will be predominately focused on curriculum development, teaching delivery and teaching-related duties for the foreseeable future.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

· experience in the higher education sector, and effectiveness in curriculum development, teaching, assessment, and associated administration, using the latest technologies;

· a capacity to participate in the scholarship of teaching relevant to the position;

· a willingness to engage in further training regarding teaching in higher education and to receive support and guidance from more senior academic staff

· a willingness to develop expertise in one or more categories of scholarship with an increasing degree of autonomy.

Selection Criteria

Essential

• A post-graduate Masters qualification in health, preferably a Master of Public Health, and enrolment in, or willingness to enrol and undertake, a PhD.

• Previously employed for at least 1 session in an academic role on a casual or fixed-term basis within the last 5 years.

• Demonstrated academic knowledge in the discipline of public health

• A commitment and capability to deliver high quality learning and teaching, including the design, delivery, and management of lectures, tutorials, and assessment.

• Ability to use new technologies in the design and delivery of educational programs, and an openness to innovative curriculum design and development

• Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Preferred

• Teaching, research and/or experience in public health policy, disease prevention and health promotion, applied epidemiology and biostatistics and/or the environmental, social, cultural, determinants of health.

Salary Package: Level A from $66,334 – $89,320 p.a. (pro rata), plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading

Appointment Types: Part time (40%), continuing position
