Travel Agency Manager – Best of Australia Travel Centres – Sydney

Best of Australia Travel Centres (BOATC) is a highly successful company responsible for the travel booking & retail /souvenir services of the Melbourne Visitor Centre, the WA Visitor Centre in Perth and the information services for the Sydney Visitor Centres in The Rocks & Darling Harbour.

Located in Sydney and reporting to the Sydney Area Manager, this position is primarily responsible for the information distribution, travel booking and retail / souvenir / gift ware sales at The Rocks Sydney Centre.

Key responsibilities include:

Proven sales skills and highly driven to push the team to meet targets.
Responsible for the day to day management of our information distribution, travel booking & retail business at the centre, leading a committed team of around ten.
General duties include distribution of SYD tourism information, sales, operational management, financial budgeting, management reporting, staff management, marketing, store layout, supplier liaison and stakeholder reporting.
A strong focus will be to ensure maximum profitability, driving sales, converting visitation to sales,  to meet and exceed revenue expectations.
A general understanding of retailing (souvenir & gift ware) would be an advantage.
This is a hands on role, you will be expected to be a part of the customer service team dedicated to the delivery of the highest levels of customer care/sales. You will have a team of approximately ten staff, made up of both full time and casual employees.

The ideal candidate is expected to possess the following skills and attributes:

You will have excellent knowledge across multiple travel products for Sydney, NSW and wider Australia.
You will have a passion for Sydney and Australia as a whole.
You will have solid sales experience, having sold travel yourself and trained others to sell travel.  You will have a proven track record of managing by objectives and key performance indicators linked to agreed sales targets.
Proven management experience with a strong operational understanding.
You will be able to work weekends, and we are currently looking for someone able to work Tuesday – Saturday .
You will be a team player / approachable / hands on and dynamic with excellent written and verbal communication skills able to build effective working relationships, both within and outside the organisation.
Excellent personal presentation
Experienced in devising, managing and implementing agreed sales staff incentives to deliver tangible sales results.
Previous proven experience managing staff.
This is a hands-on role with the manager expected to be part of the team working on the floor at all times.
