Job Advertisement: Community Migrant Settlement Advocate
Goldfields Community Legal Centre – Kalgoorlie
Our objective is to provide high quality services, settlement information, support and advocacy to new migrants to the Goldfields region.
The Settlement Service activity requirements include assisting humanitarian entrants and eligible migrants to become self-sufficient and participate in Australian society as soon as possible.
Case management skills to assess, inform, advice, support and refer clients
Sound written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated skills in working with, and knowledge of, Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook and other data base entry systems
Ability to interact sensitively and effectively with a broad range of individuals including CALD client, community groups, Government and Non-Government agencies
An understanding of the needs of migrants, especially those from non-English speaking backgrounds
Strong time-management skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision and work cooperatively within a team
Demonstrated ability to be proactive and show initiative in routine and non-routine projects
A strong commitment to social justice and access to justice issues
Current Western Australian driving license
Certificate in Human Services or equivalent skills and experience
Knowledge of local community resources
Experience in working with a community based organisation
