Electorate Officer A – Department of Finance – Newcastle

Applications are invited for the above position based in Raymond Terrace, NSW.

The duties of the position include: responding to constituent enquiries, liaising with
Government departments and other organisations, preparing and coordinating
correspondence, assisting with the organising of Members functions and meetings.

    Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:

An understanding of Australia’s system of government and parliamentary processes
Excellent oral and written communication
Well developed office IT skills
Good organisational ability
Ability to work as part of a small dedicated team

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are
outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2012-
2015.

A commencing salary between $48,017 to $64,532 p.a. depending on relevant experience will
be paid and an optional Electorate Staff Allowance of up to $15,191.00 p.a. is payable in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.

Please note that occasional weekend work will be required at Mobile Office Locations.

Some travel to Parliament House, Canberra will be required on an as needs basis.

A probationary period of 3 months will apply.

Employment is conditional on the granting of security clearance at the required level.
