Our client is a large not for profit organisation urgently seeking a senior lawyer to join their in house team for a fixed term of 12 months. This is a high profile position which requires someone with at least 5 years post admission experience either within private practice or in house. You will be required to liaise with senior management and legal and compliance personnel so previous experience of this is essential.

The Role:

This position will be predominantly complaints focused so the ability to work independently and in an impartial manner is vital. You will be responsible for providing advice and implementing processes and procedures to deal with all aspects regarding complaints. A litigation/mediation background or knowledge of the litigation process is essential.
 
Key Responsibilities:

Provide quality solution focused legal advice
Identify areas of risk within the organisation
Provide training and education on internal processes and procedures
Provide user friendly legal advice and supervision in relation to settlement of claims – litigation and redress process
Research legal issues and legal developments
Assist with the implementation of policy
Educate internal stakeholders on key legal issues

The Ideal Candidate:

5+ years PQE
Experience in at least 2 of the following – litigation, dispute resolution, administrative law, employment law, governance, personal injury (sexual misconduct)
Background in mediation, claims management, compliance
Previous experience of working for the Government, Ombudsman, Royal Commission, DPP
Working knowledge of ethical principles around conflicts of confidentiality
Exceptional attention to detail
A positive and team focused attitude
Outstanding communication – the ability to build and develop relationships

Working closely with Senior Legal Counsel you will be managing the whole complaints process and will need to make sure that this is conducted in a fair and timely manner across the whole organisation.  You will also be providing recommendations and legal advice in relation to all aspects of complaints and misconduct making sure these are in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.  You will be to be solution focused and have a passion for helping others. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative team and to help implement positive change.

A competitive salary is being offered.  There is also the possibility of this being a 4 day week.
