This role is for a Senior Software Developer with an interest in building internal business intelligence tools (using Python/Django/SQL) for Powershop Australia, at their Melbourne CBD office.
Powershop AU has created an internal application which helps their analysts understand the Australian energy market – undoubtedly an interesting domain for aspiring electricity geeks.
The application was created by a team of three contractors, and now needs a mature developer to act as it’s permanent owner/maintainer.
As the first permanent developer hire in Australia, this role requires maturity, confidence in application development, strong query-writing skills, and a proven history of delivering projects in a self-managed environment.
In terms of pure knowledge, while it’s not a hard requirement that you know the vocabulary of the electricity market, you should be a good statistical thinker and be able to translate analyst requirements into a user-friendly web interface, end-to-end.
If you’ve got experience rolling things into Cloud/are generally familiar with common Python tooling, that’s a big bonus.
If you’ve got expertise in Postgres, that’s also a big bonus.
